In a shocking development, one of the detained Binance executives, accused of tax evasion and other offenses, has managed to escape from custody. According to reports from Premium Times, Mr. Anjarwalla, aged 38, made his escape on Friday, March 22nd, from a guest house in Abuja where he and his colleague were being detained.
Mr. Anjarwalla, who holds both British and Kenyan citizenship, reportedly fled during a visit to a nearby mosque for prayers, facilitated by guards on duty in observance of the ongoing Ramadan fast.
The British national, known to have Kenyan citizenship as well, is said to have left Abuja using a Middle Eastern airline. Authorities suspect that he fled using a Kenyan passport, raising questions about how he acquired the document given that he was in possession of only his British passport at the time of his detention.
This escape has sparked concerns and further investigations into the circumstances surrounding his departure and the lapses in security protocols that allowed such a breach to occur.
