The tragic accident involving a bus transporting students from Kenyatta University and a truck occurred on Monday, March 18th, amidst heavy rain. The collision, which took place in Maungu, resulted in the loss of 11 lives and left 42 others critically injured.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred around 5:50 pm local time when the university bus attempted to overtake a convoy of vehicles despite the adverse weather conditions, causing it to skid off the road.
The sudden maneuver forced the truck driver to swerve, leading to a collision with the left side of the university bus.
Regrettably, 10 individuals from Kenyatta University lost their lives at the scene, with another victim succumbing to injuries later in hospital care. Currently, 42 individuals are reported to be in critical condition, highlighting the severity of the incident.
