In preparation for the upcoming local government election in Kajola local government area of Oyo State, authorities have taken swift action to address an incident involving suspected political thugs.
Reports indicate that 14 individuals have been apprehended for allegedly attacking electoral officials and attempting to snatch ballot papers.
Isiaka Olagunju, Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), confirmed the incident and emphasized that law enforcement agencies, including the Divisional Police Officer in the area, have been directed to arrest the suspects.
Olagunju also clarified that rumors about ballot papers being snatched during the attack are unfounded.
The arrest of the suspected thugs underscores the commitment of authorities to maintain peace and security during the electoral process.
With the election scheduled for Saturday, efforts to curb violence and ensure a fair and transparent voting process are paramount.
