President Bola Tinubu reiterated his government’s commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to address Nigeria’s economic challenges during a tripartite meeting in Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of assessing both successful and unsuccessful measures to revitalize the economy, acknowledging the diverse needs of Nigerians from students to farmers.
He pledged to explore additional efforts to support vulnerable populations and provide hope for economic recovery.
Tinubu also assured Nigerians of the government’s determination to implement effective strategies and marshal plans to ensure a prosperous economic future. He highlighted initiatives in his state and others to stabilize food prices amid currency depreciation.
In his words;
“Let’s look at what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong to bring life back to the economy. Like I said, many times, the people of this country are only the people whom we have to please.
”We are very much concerned from students to mothers and fathers, farmers, the traders and realising that every one of us will have to fetch water from the same well.
”We’re looking for additional efforts that might help the downtrodden Nigerians and we will provide that hope and reassurance that economic recovery is on its way.
”We are not saying that we have all the answers. But we will not be blamed for not trying.
”We assure Nigerians that we will do our best to get our marshal plans in place and fashion out the best economic future for this country.”
Following the meeting, Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, and Segun Ajayi-Kadir provided insights into the discussions.
They covered various economic issues, including food security, job creation, security, and foreign exchange rates. Dangote expressed confidence in Nigeria’s potential for greatness and its ongoing transformation, while Rabiu emphasized the need to address artificial manipulations in the foreign exchange market.
Elumelu emphasized the importance of implementing solutions to alleviate poverty and create employment, while Ajayi-Kadir highlighted the private sector’s readiness to contribute to positive changes and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about overcoming current challenges.
