President Bola Tinubu has directed the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to return seized food items at border communities to their rightful owners, with a mandate for the items to be sold in Nigerian markets.
Customs Chief, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed this during a meeting with residents from border areas in Katsina. He highlighted that President Tinubu’s decision reflects his generosity towards Nigeria, transcending legal guidelines.
Adeniyi stated: “In doing so, he has directed that those food items that were going out of the country that have been seized in various border areas should be returned to the owners on the condition that those goods would be sold in the Nigerian markets.”
He emphasized monitoring to prevent violations of this directive, ensuring that the returned food items are reintegrated into Nigerian markets.
