Peter Obi gives Anambra Nursing School a Sum of N10m (Pictures)

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has donated N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, St Joseph Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra,” a statement from Obi’s camp revealed.

Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra, presented a N10 million cheque to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Most Rev. Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, according to the statement.

“Institutions like this should get budgetary allocation because of the great work you are doing, trying to train these nurses who are always there with the patients,” Obi said in a statement.

“We cannot talk about healthcare, which is very important to national development, without talking about healthcare workers,” he added.

“I have heard what the head of nursing department in the school has said. I want to assure you that we will come back,” Obi’s statement continued.

“Training these people is helping to protect our future. If we do not train them today, they will become a threat to us,” Obi emphasized.

Responding, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed his gratitude for “the gesture to the institution and the church,” according to a statement.

On social media, Obi wrote, “”Different health organizations have continued to warn about the impending shortage of health care workers, especially nurses, on the global level. By investing in their training, we will be able to produce enough to meet our needs and contribute in managing the global shortage.”
