Nigerian singer Omawumi Megbele recently shared her stance on childbearing after welcoming her second child. Posting photos with a newborn on Instagram, she announced herself as the latest aunt in town, expressing gratitude for her blessings and remarking how her name, Omowumi, suits her perfectly.
Amidst congratulatory messages, one fan subtly inquired if she planned to have more children.
In response, Omawumi humorously declared she had retired from childbearing, stating, “My wife, I don hang coat o! If e like make e fit me die.” This reaffirmed her decision to stop having children, a sentiment she had previously expressed.
Last year, Omawumi clarified she wasn’t the mother of newborn twins in photos she shared, affirming her love for children but indicating she wasn’t planning to have any more. Despite media personality Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi’s blessing for twins, Omawumi remains content with her family of four.
Omawumi tied the knot with Tosin Yusuf in a traditional ceremony in 2019, embracing motherhood before marriage. She emphasized a woman’s right to decide on childbirth, emphasizing that such decisions should be rooted in love, not societal pressure.
