The Abia State Government has officially removed HRM Eze Edward Ebere Eule from his position as the traditional ruler of the Azumini autonomous community in Ukwa East LGA. Eze Eule had previously been suspended in February 2024 for alleged misconduct and actions deemed unfit for a traditional ruler.
Governor Alex Otti approved the withdrawal of Eze Eule’s staff of office and certificate of recognition, as announced in a press statement by the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu. This action was taken due to Eze Eule’s failure to comply with directives outlined in his suspension letter, as per the provisions of the Abia State Traditional Rulers and Autonomous Communities Amended Number 2 Law 2018.
The statement highlighted that a panel of inquiry was convened by the Abia State Government to investigate allegations of misconduct against Eze Edward Ebere. Subsequently, the panel found him culpable, leading to his removal from office.
The statement also instructed Eze Eule to cease portraying himself as the traditional ruler of the Azumini autonomous community and to return the staff of office and certificate of recognition within 14 days. Additionally, it noted that all privileges and rights previously granted to the deposed traditional ruler have been revoked.
Buh shaa for me it is not good to dethrone a king ooh cause no be dey do king
For no reason
If nah so make unah do same to all these our leaders too
There’s actually an alleged accusation of misconduct and action unfit for his position…which we don’t know of, I guess they covered that up to save his face based on the reputation he had as king
I just love the way Alex otti has been going about his governance in abia state how are wish same can happen in Lagos and the likes. If only we can get it right in Nigeria just so we can flush some bad eggs in the system
I don’t know what it is with those in political power and traditional rulers lately though but from my knowledge of the British royal governance…I guess they do not have to cross each other’s path as long as they individually recognise where their power extends to…But not to save one side yo leave the other, for the governor to have made that decision I’m sure they did their investigation and they just have to do what has to be done because we can’t use one ruler’s misconduct to judge the conduct of other traditional rulers
Well I see the only reason governors can dethrone traditional is including allegations of misconduct, abuse of power, failure to uphold customary laws, or actions deemed detrimental to the peace and development of the community. Additionally, conflicts of interest, disputes over succession, or violations of state or national laws could also lead to the removal of a traditional ruler from their position ….I guess that’s what otti see before taking actions
Hmm 🤔
I feel there is more to this story
The governor must have made a very thorough investigations about this allegations of misconduct against this king before taking actions to withdraw tim from his position.
I believe there is more to this which has not being reveal.
Watin musa no go see for gate
Misconduct shouldn’t be condon, this are people we call leader that people are looking upto.
I don’t support the man for not abiding by the state rule but then I’m not in support of government to be in control of traditional chieftaincy.
Hmmmmm
For me i don’t know what happen but he has no right to dethrone a king because he was not the one that enthroned him there
Hmm. I thought politics and traditional monarchy were exclusive of each. I admire Otti but this really got me thinking on the bigger picture. If traditional offices can be altered by political influence, then it makes me worried a bit
