In a tragic incident in Yobe State, three individuals were killed and others injured when a military patrol vehicle collided with a tricycle filled with passengers. The accident took place on Sunday evening in the Garin-Alkali community, close to Gashu’a, the administrative center of Bade local government area.
Following the accident, tricycle operators and local residents took to the streets to protest the deaths caused by the military vehicle. Among the deceased were a tricycle rider and two passengers. The soldiers involved were reportedly in the town to bolster local security.
The demonstrations prompted the intervention of the Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, whose efforts were instrumental in calming the escalating tensions.
Ibrahim Babagana, the Caretaker Chairman of Bade Local Government Area, confirmed the details of the incident to the press. As of this report, there has been no official statement from the headquarters of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai regarding the fatal collision.
This incident marks the latest in a series of violent occurrences in the town, highlighting ongoing safety concerns involving military and civilian interactions in the area
