Tinubu to declare open Nigeria’s justice sector reforms summit

President Bola Tinubu will declare Nigeria’s justice sector reform summit open later this month.
The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, said this at a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the country “cannot afford to remain complacent in the face of the obstacles impeding the efficient delivery of justice for all Nigerians.”
He said the event is billed for 24 and 25 April at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja.

Accompanied by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yakubu Maikyau, and top aides at the Ministry of Justice, Mr Fagbemi said the summit is aimed at brainstorming on key challenges plaguing the country’s justice system.

He noted that the justice ministry was collaborating with the NBA and the National Judicial Council “to address critical challenges in the justice sector.”

“This crucial event seeks to address the significant challenges plaguing Nigeria’s justice sector and pave the way for much-needed reforms that will make justice more accessible to all Nigerians.”

The minister disclosed that a renowned legal scholar and former Chief Justice of Kenya, Willy Mutunga, will deliver the keynote address at the summit
