Some Of The Repentant Terrorists Are Criminals Who Have Killed People And Destro

Brigadier General John Sura (retd.), a former commander of the 1st Division of the Nigerian Army, has expressed concern regarding the treatment of repentant terrorists. He stated that some of these individuals have committed heinous crimes, including killing and destroying lives. Despite their actions, they are afforded certain privileges, such as being taken into custody, provided with state resources, and even given befitting outfits, while their victims continue to suffer in the villages.

According to what Brigadier General John Sura (retd.) said in the report by Vanguard, “Some of the repentant terrorists are criminals who have killed people and destroyed lives. Yet, they are taken into some custody to the extent that state resources are expended on them, and they appear in befitting outfits with better human treatment, yet the people they have attacked are suffering in the villages. Afterwards, you plan to return them to the villages where they killed people. It is unacceptable. If they must be rehabilitated, they must be kept as prisoners of war. When you catch prisoners of war in any situation, you are meant to hold them in custody for life.”
