The Katsina State Police Command in collaboration with vigilante members, have arrested a suspect, Urwatu Habibu, of Kofar Guga Quarters, Katsina, for vandalising and stealing armoured cables.
According to ASP Abubakar Aliyu Sadiq, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the 20-year-old suspect popularly referred to as “Dandamaso”, was arrested on 4th April 2024, at about 1200 hrs, along Ring Road, Katsina metropolis with a large quantity of aluminium cables, suspected to be stolen.
ASP Sadiq disclosed that the suspect could not give a satisfactory account as to how he came about the exhibit in the course of investigation. He eventually confessed to the commission of the offence.
Dandamaso also mentioned one Abubakar Kabir, alias Abu Tirai, now at large, as his accomplice,” Sadiq further revealed.
The suspect was said to have also confessed to previously stealing aluminium cables from the same place which he disposed of through their receiver (name withheld), who is now at large.
According to ASP Sadiq, efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.
