“Afrobeats is getting enough recognition globally like our Nigerian artist are top 10 when talking African music. Because of that the quality of music is dropping because more people want to get in. Back in the days, hitsongs were serious music with good lyrics but now everybody is just coming in with anything and making hits. If you look at the top 5 hitsongs in Nigeria right now, most of them are not good music. It’s just because we’ve been leading the African music industry for so long that we just feel like we can drop anything and people are gonna like it. Everybody is just throwing any song and using money to hype it and making hits. Not to talk of the new trend that every Nigerian is after amapiano. Amapiano is a great sound but it’s not ours so we should focus on bringing back quality in our music and not fîghting over amapiano.” Ric Hassani
