According to SaharaReporters in previous report on the payment receipts and agreement documents revealing Yahaya Bello’s advance payment of school fees for his children, including his preschooler Zayyan Ali Bello, extending to 2034/35.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has urged the full-scale prosecution of the American International School, Abuja, ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, and his nephew Ali Bello for money laundering.
In response to the allegations, the American International School, Abuja, agreed to refund $760,910.84 to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which is investigating Bello for money laundering.
Sowore criticized the refund, arguing that the school, Bello, and his nephew should face prosecution instead. He emphasized that similar offenses in the United States would result in severe legal consequences.
Sowore urged the EFCC to investigate school fees paid by Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) at the American International School, Abuja, suggesting the possibility of converting the school into a public institution..
Sowore called for accountability in Nigeria’s expensive private schools, highlighting the need to address financial crimes and protect the public from exploitation.
