The ward in Ganduje, Kano State, has suspended Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as announced by Halliru Gwanzo, the ward’s legal adviser, during a media briefing in Kano on Monday.
The suspension stems from allegations of bribery leveled against Ganduje by the Kano state government, according to Gwanzo, who stated, “We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.”
He further mentioned that the suspension would remain in effect until Ganduje is cleared of the charges.
The Kano State Government had previously taken Ganduje to the Kano High Court on accusations of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including the alleged acceptance of $413,000 and N1.38 billion in bribes. Haruna Dederi, the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, announced that Ganduje, along with his wife, son, and five others, would face arraignment.
The individuals listed in the summons include Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.

Oyedibu Fikayo Odunayo
Well the suspension of the national chairman of a political party, especially one as significant as the APC, can indeed create a sense of crisis within the party. It often indicates internal divisions or conflicts that need resolution. The outcome of such situations can have broader implications for the party’s stability and political landscape.
