Chaos erupted at the National Assembly on Friday when DSS operatives attempted to forcibly remove two senior staff members, John Nnadi and Chris Odoh, from the complex in Abuja.
The incident occurred when the duo tried to enter the complex through the gate linking the Senate new building and White House.
Despite identifying themselves with their ID cards, the DSS operatives halted their movement and manhandled them.
Eyewitnesses reported that the operatives dragged Nnadi and Odoh to their office, attracting the attention of passersby, bank staff, journalists, and other National Assembly staff.
The incident sparked outrage, with staff from various offices gathering in front of the DSS office, threatening to take action if their colleagues were not released.
The situation was eventually calmed by the Divisional Police Officer, Alex Annagu, and Deputy Clerk to the Senate (Legislative), Mrs. Ilobah Isabella.
The incident highlights the tensions and power struggles between security agencies and National Assembly staff, raising concerns about the treatment of civilians by security operatives.
